Vertices in 3D Modeling

A vertices (or vertex) is the cornet of a shape. A cube has 8 vertices, because it has 8 corners. To get a vertex, you need to have 3 or more edges intersecting each other. Using the X, Y and Z axes, also know as pushing and pulling verts, is the most common way to shape a polygon mesh into its final shape or form with programmes such as 3Ds max, Blender and many other different modelling programs. There are also other things you can do with vertices in 3D modeling, (if you are making a cup) if you highlight the top vertices and then delete it, you will have the top of the cup ready for smoothing and texturing.
This is a simple image showing where you would find a vertex on a shape.
